Bar Convent Berlin at Postbahnhof

Diageo Brings Together the World’s Best Bartenders at the Berlin Bar Convention in 2011.

October 2011 marked the fifth annual recurrence of the most important event in the German bar industry: the Bar Convention in Berlin. Combining a trade show and a symposium, the Convention has evolved into a central event for networking and exhibiting the latest in cocktail and beverage culture. This year’s Convention welcomed over 4,800 guests.

DIAGEO presented itself and its globally leading premium spirits, which it showed this year in a separate room with modern design and a classic bar concept. The black-and-white interior, the clear styling of the lines and forms, and high-quality piano-lacquered elements invited guests to relax in luxuriously styled surroundings. The space was both a showroom for top-quality brands such as Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Tanqueray No.TEN, Ron Zacapa, Don Julio Tequila, Ketel One Vodka, Grand Marnier and Ciroc Vodka, as well as a platform for the launch of Diageo Reserve World Class – the quest for the world’s best bartender.

Among the contestants wielding the cocktails shakers were the “gintleman” and industry icon Angus Winchester, Heinz Kaiser (Best European World Class Bartender in 2011) and Henning Neufeld (Newcomer of the Year 2011 and Best Swiss World Class Bartender in 2011). The barmen also served as presenters and experts onsite.
In addition, more than twenty other European bartenders mixed first-class cocktails and served up unconventional taste sensations.
