A terrible war is raging in the middle of Europe. Freedom Square in Kharkiv was bombarded by the Russian army on March 1, 2022. Dozens of civilians were killed. In his speech to the European Parliament on March 1, 2022, Ukraine’s President Volodimir Selenski said:

"Upon today every square in every city in our country will be called freedom square"

Here is the very moving excerpt from his speech:

In total solidarity with the victims of the attack, we would like to temporarily rename the squares and streets in Germany on March 27, 2022, transforming each one into Freedom Square together with our communities. In our country, too, every square in every city should bear the name Freedom Square, at least for a short period of time!
